Keep an eye on our X / Twitter for updates on the Node License Sale.

What is a Node License?

A Modular Node License allows you to earn rewards by running a PlayFi Modular Node on your own machine or by delegating to another user's machine.

Genesis Node License Sale

The Genesis Node License Sale is an early and very limited sale of PlayFi's Modular Nodes preceding the upcoming Main Public Sale. The Genesis Node License Sale offers 20% off the lowest price available in the upcoming Main Public Sale to reward those earliest to PlayFi, and begins on the 14th of August on the Arbitrum blockchain.

No whitelist is required for this specific sale.

This sale consists of 2 tiers: Genesis Nodes and Explorer Nodes. Genesis Node Licences have a limited supply of 1000 and will be available to purchase in ETH for 400 USD equivalent (20% cheaper than Tier 1 Main Sale pricing). Explorer Node Licenses will also have a limited supply and will be available to purchase in ETH for 500 USD equivalent.

Holders of either Genesis Licenses or Explorer Licenses will receive an amount of $PLAY equivalent to what they paid for their License upon launch of the $PLAY token.

Holders of Genesis Licenses will receive 2500 Airdrop Points (+5000 more if you hold the Genesis role in the PlayFi Discord).

Genesis Node License Sale FAQs

Why run a PlayFi node? More than half of all global internet traffic is content - people watching, playing and streaming. PlayFi turns this content into actionable data using powerful AI Agents, and makes it available cross-chain for anyone to build on top of. When people use this data, $PLAY flows to node operators.

When can I purchase a node license? PlayFi’s first node sale begins on the 14th of August at 10am EST with a very limited quantity of 1,000 Genesis nodes available and a limited number of Explorer nodes available. A Main Public sale will follow at a later date.

Who can purchase a node license? Anyone can purchase a node license. As there are only 1,000 Genesis nodes available, no whitelists are required and licenses are distributed on a first come, first serve basis.

What is the payment method for purchasing a node license? You can purchase a node license using ETH on the Arbitrum network.

How much is a node license? Genesis nodes are priced at the equivalent of 400 USD in ETH. Explorer nodes are priced at the equivalent of 500 USD in ETH. What are the benefits of running a Genesis node? 20% of the $PLAY token will be allocated to node operators as rewards for supporting the network. Additionally, node operators will receive a bonus allocation of $PLAY when our token launches, which we’re boosting by 3x for Genesis node licenses.

What hardware do I need to run a node? We are partnering with Node-as-a-Service providers to enable people who don’t meet the minimum hardware requirements to operate a node. PlayFi’s modular nodes consist of four individually toggleable modules allowing devices of a wide range of hardware capabilities to earn rewards. The requirement per module for running a node yourself are:

Storage modules:

  • Dual core, recent generation, 2 GHz processor

  • 8GB RAM

  • 50GB SSD available storage space per node

  • 10 Mbps download internet speed

Will PlayFi be partnering with Node-as-a-Service operators? Yes, PlayFi will be partnering with multiple Node-as-a-service partners allowing users without access to the required hardware to earn rewards in as little as a few clicks.

Can I run multiple nodes on my machine? Yes, the provided hardware specifications listed above apply to running up to 100 nodes on a single device (excluding storage modules).

Do I need to buy specific hardware to run a node? No, whilst it may be profitable to buy specific hardware to run PlayFi nodes, they can already run on most laptops and desktops. However, if you do not have access to a suitably powerful machine, you can skip the technical requirements and utilize our Node-as-a-service partners who will operate your node/s and pass the rewards back to you.

Do I get all four node modules included in the one license? Yes, all modules are included in one license and can be enabled/disabled at your discretion. Each module requires different hardware capabilities and offers varying levels of rewards.

Do the nodes support virtualization, e.g. cloud based node that might be a cluster of multiple devices? Yes, PlayFi’s modular node architecture will be able to operate anywhere that meets the provided hardware requirements.

How do tiers work? Will they affect my rewards? Whilst earlier and lower tiers will cost less and will receive additional rewards in the leadup to the launch of the $PLAY token (through the PlayFi Airdrop Points Platform and otherwise), once the network is live all nodes will be functionally identical and will receive the same ongoing rewards regardless of tier.

What is the buyback program? We’re locking in the rewards for the first 10,000 nodes on PlayBase and offering 100% buybacks in an equivalent amount of $PLAY for any users who wish to reverse their node purchase.
